'Gentle As Breeze' Twisted Easel

I have been trying to make as many DT cards as possible for somebody this year, but sometimes a challenge comes along that I can't resist and I make something for nobody in particular! (Or maybe I decide to just keep it for myself...bahaha)

Kit & Clowder have a group colouring challenge on Facebook at the moment using an image from Ching-Chou Kuik called 'Gentle As Breeze'. The theme is 'Your Favourite Colours', so I have used purple for the clothing.
CCK's own group also have a challenge with the theme of 'Sing Me A Love Song', so I have combined the two.
My inspiration song is 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri. The girl in the image looks a little sad and longing to me and reminds me of Bella Swan when Edward leaves her; all the months of waiting (sorry, if you're not a Twilight fan this will mean nothing to you!).  This song isn't from that scene as that song wasn't really a love song. 'A Thousand Years' is actually played in the end credits of 'Breaking Dawn' and the music video features scenes from the wedding. I have added a few lyrics on my card.

I've used techniques from Kit & Clowder's monthly classes and Elements of Nature class to draw and colour my background (the 'glow' I created myself though). If you haven't checked them out yet, please do.  The group is amazingly supportive and Alyce, the teacher, gives wonderful personal feedback.

Products I have used to make my card:

  • Papermania cardstock
  • Metal embellishment, beads and flowers from my stash
  • Vintage lace from Etsy
  • Embossalicious embossing folder
  • Twine from Michaels
  • Sakura White Gelly Roll
  • ProMarkers - Walnut, Cocoa, Raw Sienna, Caramel, Blush, Black, Cool Grey 1&2, Pine, Forest, Moss, Powder Blue, Arctic Blue, Sky Blue, Aegean, French Navy, Indigo, Burnt Sienna, Tan, Dusky Pink, Satin, Cinnamon, Sandstone, Aubergine, Plum, Purple, Amethyst, Lilac, Cocoa, Pastel Pink, Cardinal, Lipstick, Gold, Antique Pink, Sunkissed Pink & Warm Grey 2

It's not so easy to read, but the lyrics on my card are:
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me,
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

  16. Nicola, what a lovely card you have made here which fits perfectly the Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Inspiration and Challenge Blog Monthly Challenge this month of “Love is all around”. Love the haze around the image and the tree that you have created and coloured yourself. Even more FANTASTIC is that you have used one of Ching-Chou Kuik's digital stamps.

Thank you for entering, best wishes in the draw and for your support of this challenge. Kym (Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Design Team Leader).

Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to view my creations.
I am trying to reply to your kind comments as I do read all of them, however I often publish from my phone and then get distracted by my children or life in general!
I am always trying to improve my colouring and cardmaking skills and constructive feedback is always welcomed.
