Haunted Manor Canvas

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I couldn't resist the new Haunted Manor Portraits images from Sweet November Stamps. I grabbed 'Count Dracul' and 'Marchioness Serpentina' to play with, as I love vampires and snakes!

At this time of year I am usually making myself a new Halloween decoration, so because these are portraits, I decided to make a canvas to look like a manor wall.

I started off with the images, adding woodgrain detail to the frames using pencils over the marker.

Count Dracul is in traditional colours and I added some 'blood' stains to his cravat, as he is quite overzealous when he eats, haha.

Marchioness Serpentina definitely needed deadly snakes, so I turned them into coral snakes. Her outfit colours and the snake colours mirror those of Count Dracul.

For the canvas I started by covering it in Distress Inks, then I added a layer of Texture Paste through a stencil and finished off with more Distress Inks once it was dry.

I wanted more of a haunted. spooky vibe, so I made my own 'blood' using clear glossy texture paste and red food colouring. It was a great experiment that turned out really well.

The lovely drips did flatten out, which is a shame, but it's still a great effect.

And here is the finished piece which is proudly hanging in my lounge.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you are inspired to create a canvas of your own!

Spooky Birthday Wishes at The Paper Shelter

Hello Spooky Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge at The Paper Shelter and this week our theme is Halloween/Halloween Colours. I never give Halloween cards, so I usually end up making myself more decorations. This time I am using Halloween colours for a spooky birthday card. It is my birthday soon and I have friend's birthdays coming up too,.

I have used 'October Elegance' for a pop-up front step panel card. Previously I have only made these square, so this time I have changed up the dimensions and placed the pop-up panel to the side rather than in the middle.

I think this is a really fun 'costume' for a spooky ball!

Of course my Stickles had to be right at the end, so I cut the top off and used a pokey stick to finish filling in the sentiment.

For a finishing touch I added some 'eyes' to the top of the pop-up panel.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Please come and join in our challenge this week and remember, you can use any image but if you use a Paper Shelter image you are eligible for a higher value prize!

Autumn Mermaid at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I'm back again with some more inspiration for The Paper Shelter. This week our challenge theme is For A Friend, so you can interpret this any way you like.

I have used 'Pretty Mermaid' for a layered birthday card. I am always using mermaid images for summer cards, so I thought I would do something different and use more autumnal colours.

I think this paper is meant to be rainbows, but it looks cool upside-down as mermaid scales!

I kept the mermaid within the colour scheme of the papers, just brighter for the tail.

I used shimmer paint all over the image then covered it with 3D gloss, I'm a bit gutted about the cracks, but not a lot I can do about that!
