Joyful Holiday Greetings at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's hard to believe that we're halfway through November already and there's only a short timr left to get that Festive crafting done!

This week at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog our theme is Dots and/or Stripes, which leaves plenty of room for interpretation.

I couldn't resist using "Happy Baby Deer" for a Christmas card, as this image already has dots and stripes.

I just added a few more dots and stripes with my paper and embellishments!

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

A Banging Birthday at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I'm back to share my inspiration for the last Paper Shelter Challenge of October!

The challenge is run from my home country {England} and back home soon they will celebrate Guy Fawkes Night (it's an odd thing to celebrate, I know), so the theme for this challenge is Make It Sparkle.

You can choose to interpret this any way you wish, but I just had to add some fireworks to my project! I have used 'Autumn Starter Kit' as she seems ready to go out for some sparkling fun.

I created a layered card using card scraps and die-cut elements.

The image has lines on the pants, so I decided to turn them into a plaid design,

I stamped and embossed the fireworks, then used embossing pen to add some extra bits and fill in missing bits.

My husband bought me a Cricut Joy Xtra for my birthday, so I used that to cut the sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

A Wonderous Friendship

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It may be Spooky Month but MerMay flew by quickly, and I didn't get anything done outside of my design team commitments. Maybe I will change it to MerTober for a while!

I have been slacking in using the newsletter freebies from Sweet November Stamps, but I had to do something with this super sweet duo "Dolphin Hugs".

I made the shaker part ready to go on a card but my daughter said I should put it on my gallery wall, so I grabbed a canvas and did a mixed media piece instead.

I used Graphic 45 Voyage Beneath The Sea papers and embellishments, so I kept all the other colours to that scheme..

I usually do greyish-blue dolphins and wanted to do something different this time, so I Googled and decided on a Common Dolphin. I love how it turned out.

For the shaker, I used a waves die-cut, which I wove a strip of patterned paper through then added the acetate on top. My shaker pieces are tiny beads and die-cut shells.

The base layer is Distress Inks & Oxides to give all over colour to the white canvas.

On top of that I used Neon Lunar Paste through a mermaid scales stencil.

You just can't get the amazing shine from this front-on photo, so I've added more below to show you how it looks in the light.

The final touches are 'water' droplets, pearls, cheesecloth and starfish.

Spooky Shadow Box at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

Firstly, we had some devastating news that on the 25th of September, our beautiful Veronica, co-owner of The Paper Shelter store, tragically passed away.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pedro, their son Gabriel (seen with Veronica below), and their family.

You can see the official announcement here.

Our challenge over on the blog this week is Halloween or Halloween Colours, so let your imagination fly (like a witch, or a bat maybe).

I have used page 14 of the Halloween Castle Scenes colouring book for a spooky shadow box.

I love making myself new decorations for Halloween and this scene is perfect.

I don't usually add sentiments to shadow boxes, but as I have Halloween stamps, I wanted to utilize them.

The gauze is white cheesecloth that I ran my black ink pad over to make it match the box better.

I wanted to make my ghosts look like they are floating out of the picture, so I used small pieces of vellum folded in half to push their "heads" forward,

Spooky Kitty Birthday at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's a brand new month, and October is my favourite. Spooky Season, soups and stews, and my birthday are always good reasons to celebrate! Over at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog we have a brand new theme for you today - All Creatures Great and Small. You can interpret this how you wish, but be sure that your main focus is a creature.

I have used Pg 13 of the Halloween Kittens colouring book to make a spooky double-display birthday card.

I like that from the top it kind of looks like bat wings!

Animals aren't my favorite thing to colour, but this kitty is too cute. I had to give him some white 'socks'.

I typed the sentiments in Photoshop. This is something I love doing as I don't always have the perfect thing with dies or stamps.

A Sweet Cup of Christmas at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

This week's theme at The Paper Shelter can be showcased in many ways, as we are asking you to share 3 Of Something. It could be 3 images, 3 characters, 3 patterned papers, 3 embellishments etc.

I have gone OTT with this one and used more than one type of 'something'!!

The image I have used is pg11 from the Merry Moments colouring book. There are lots of different festive images in this book for you to just colour, or add to a card.

I kept with traditional Christmas colours and a simple layout.

The banner die shape is one of my favourites right now. I have a couple of nesting sets and use them all the time. They are great for making bookmarks, as well as adding a nice touch to cards.

Isn't he sweet? Not so sure I'd want to drink this cocoa with feathers in it though!

I didn't want to cover up the patterned paper that I'd already added, so I stamped the sentiment onto vellum.

The sentiment and image are both on 3D stickers at different heights.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

A Cherry Blossom Birthday at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

Well that summer just flew by! The kids are off to school again, and The Paper Shelter Blog Challenge is back to bi-weekly challenges after the summer break.

It's a crafter's-favourite theme this week, and that is to simply to ADD FLOWERS, which gives you plenty of occasions to make something for.

I have used Pg7 of the 'Orient Fantasy' colouring book to make an easel stepper birthday card.

I've had some cherry blossom embellishments for years but never seem to make anything that they fit with, so I thought it was about time to utilize them!

I used some Liquid Pearls for the flower centres on the image, so they would match the embellishement flowers.

The papers are from a Hunkydory kit, so I used a sentiment from the pack.

I love this style of card as you get lots of extra space for embellishing,.

I always use pencils now to add 'makeup' to character images, as it looks more like eyeshadow/blush than markers do.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.
