Out With The Old... At The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's the last Paper Shelter Blog Challenge for 2025 which wonderfully coincides with the last day of the year, so Happy New Year to you all!

Our optional theme this time is OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW, so interpret this how you like (it's a great excuse for new stash though, haha).

I have put my Cricut to work after seeing lots of cute desk calendars on Design Space. The Flowers Colouring Book was perfect to use for the monthly images. I was going to use the birth month flowers but there isn't an image for all of them, so I did my own themes.

The colouring books are a fantastic price and great to print at different sizes for use on cards etc.

Christmas Break Challenge at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's almost Christmas, so The Paper Shelter Design Team will be taking a short break for some family time over the holidays. We'll be back again on New Year's Eve with a brand new challenge and some news.

It's simply ANYTHING GOES for this challenge, so you don't have to think too hard during this busy time!

I have gone glamourous in gold, using LUNAR DREAMER for a shaped card.

I don't usually make shaped cards, but having a Cricut now makes this much easier.

I imagined the character having a fancy photoshoot! She's sitting on a stool and the moon is part of the background.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

You can also share your creations over in our Facebook Group.

15th Birthday Blog Hop at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

2025 has flown by and it's somehow already time for our anniversary challenge!

If you've arrived here from Natascha's blog, then you're heading in the right direction!  If not, then you'll want to pop back to The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog to start again.

In celebration of The Paper Shelter's 15th Birthday on the 8th of December, we are once again hosting a fun Blog Hop!  This will be a two week challenge, so you have plenty of time to enter. It's our way of thanking The Paper Shelter for sharing their wonderful images with us, and sponsoring our challenge.

Both Design Teams are participating, showcasing the gorgeous images available from The Paper Shelter, and each blog on the hop is offering one lucky commenter a digi of their choice. You can find details of the main prize at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog.

The theme for this special challenge is:

CELEBRATIONS

Which gives a wide range of themes for your entry.

I have used Warm Feelings for a layered card, as it's something we all need at this time of year 🤗🤗🤗

I used autumnal colours, as those are definitely warmer than winter colours.

From here, you will need to pop over to Maria's blog.

Don't forget to leave comments as you hop, as each Design Team member will be choosing one commenter to win a digi of their choice from the store.

Good Luck, and I hope you've enjoyed the hop so far!

Crafty Hugs,

Get Well Wishes at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's another week and another new challenge over at The Paper Shelter Blog. This week the optional theme is out first ever sketch!

I have used page 15 from the Flowers colouring book for my image. This is a great digital book to use for many occasions, or just for printing out the pages to colour!

I used vinyl for my background to give it a shiny look, with it being a fairly CAS design.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

You can also share your creations over in our Facebook Group.

A Glowing Christmas at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

We're getting towards the festive time of year, and there's only a few challenges left at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog!

Today in the UK it is Guy Fawkes/ Bonfire Night, so our optional theme this round is LIGHT MY FIRE, which has lots of room for interpretation.

I have used My Little Christmas Light to create a 3D layered "snow" globe (it does have a bit of snow, LOL).

I found a snow globe shadow box in Cricut Design Space and did lots of slicing and merging to create my own layers. It was a PITA, but I love how it turned out!

I used a mix of traditional and non-traditional Christmas colours for the image and layers.

The curtain sash is a few images together. I squashed the snowflake shape to give it more of a side-view look. It is only ¼ inch wide, so I'm glad it cut out well!

Here you can better see the layers. I used acetate for the windows, and put the little star behind to look like he is saying "Hello" from outside.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

Making a (Halloween) Scene at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another spooky theme at The Paper Shelter challenge blog. This week brings HALLOWEEN, NOT HALLOWEEN (use a Halloween image, but colour it in non-Halloween colours).

I have created a scene using three images - Halloween, Cute Witch and Halloween Castle Scenes pg8.

Usually I would have coloured this scene with grey castle walls, orange pumpkins, and the witch in black and purple.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

Spellbinding at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Spooky Peeps!

It's that time of year again where all the holiday countdowns begin. Are you a fan of Halloween? I definitely am.

This week at The Paper Shelter we have a fun (optional) challenge theme for you - GHOSTLY VELLUM. Add vellum over something on your project to give it a ghostly appearance.

I used Halloween Spell to decorate a book that I covered with handmade paper.

I didn't take a photo of the side, but I used Mod Podge and gold leaf on the page edges.

The image after colouring.

And with the vellum over for that spooky look.

I coloured the cauldron again over the vellum, and added the sentiment in vinyl to make those elements stand out more.

While I was playing with vinyl, I decided to add some to the book spine too.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!
