Crafty Cardmakers Challenge: #94 Steampunk

I like the Steampunk look, but wasn't sure what it really meant. This is my first go at it, so thanks to Crafty Cardmakers for this challenge and for the definition.

I have used some elements from DoCrafts Chronology collection for this card.

Starting with a black card I first glued a vintage postcard on at an angle. I then heat-embossed a globe with gold powder, missing off the bottom of the stamp so it would fit onto the card.
I positioned a vintage clock charm and set an eyelet in place above, then threaded a piece of chain from an old necklace through both holes to give the look of a pocket watch.
I heat embossed three different cogs onto black card, then added eyelets and gromlets to finish them off and cut them out.  I placed these together at the top right corner to fill the gap.  I decided to also heat emboss three cogs at the bottom right corner, but straight onto the card for a different look.
For my sentiment I added gromlets to a greeting tag and positioned in alignment with the bottom of the postcard, and for the final touch I added three small buttons along the top of the card.

  1. I love this! It's clever how you turned the clock charm into a pocket watch. This would make an absolutely perfect card for a man, and we all know how difficult they are to create for!

Thanks for creating this beauty just for us!
