Siren of Wonder at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

How is MerMay almost over already!? I haven't managed a lot at all this time around because I've been rather busy this month.

I have one last mermaid project as Design Team Inspiration for The Paper Shelter though. so I'm glad of having three this month. Our theme this week is Fantasy or Fairytale, so you can interpret that as you wish if you are not a fan of mermaids!

I went for another colouring page, this time from 'Siren Dreams' (Pg32), and made an easel stepper card.

This image is greyscale which I really like for this project. as it looks like one of those old-fashioned photos that has been hand-coloured.

I photographed the sparkles under fluourescent light, as they show much better than when using daylight.

A close-up of the bubble beads. They are tiny, so you can't really see them in the main picture.

I usually have my die-cuts a single colour, so I thought I would change it up this time. Some of the paper lifted, so I had to glue it back down, but I like how it came out.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Please come and join in our challenge this week and remember, you can use any image but if you use a Paper Shelter image you are eligible for a higher value prize!

A Mermaid Portrait at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I'm here with another inspiration for The Paper Shelter and I am keeping with the MerMay theme. Our challenge theme this week is Lots Of Layers, so you can have lots of fun with this one.

I have used page 17 of the "Mermaid Portraits" colouring book to create a layered and framed picture for myself. I made this in stages, in between doing other things, as there is a lot that went into it!

I coloured the entire image, even though I knew much of it would be covered by the frame. I needed to make sure that there would be colour through all the gaps. I finished off with some glitter gel pens and Wink of Stella.

I used a few different dies and cardstock colours for the layers and added some extra elements after putting it all together with 3D foam tape.

The frame was grey with woodgrain, and I initially just wanted to add some shimmer to it, but the spray dried and all flaked off! I used my homemade texture paste all over the frame in the end, then added colour on top and finally sprayed the shimmer.
My husband bought me some Swarovski crystals when he visited a friend in Austria last year and I had not known what to do with them, so I thought this box frame was the perfect place. There are also a few within the bubble holes in the card layers.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Under The Sea Shaker Card at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

Are you excited for MerMay? Our challenge themes this month aren't specifically related to mermaids, but I will be going with the theme and you definitely can too!

This week our theme is Under The Sea, so I have merged two images - 'Playing Under The Sea' and 'Swimming With Friends' - to create a blended scene.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but I decided to make a shaker card for some dimension and fun.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.
