Welcome Little Treasure

Well I'm not sure how it got to the end of Mer-May and I haven't done a single mermaid card since March. Oops! So let's fix that.

I had to snag this adorable little merbaby 'Pebble' and her shrimp friends from Sweet November Stamps. I rarely colour backgrounds, but there is some fabulous work in their group that inspired me.

This image just spoke new baby card to me, so of course with a merbaby it had to be a 'Little Treasure'.

The rocks are from a freebie 'Mermaid Rock' and the shrimp are separate images, so they can be placed anywhere or left off.

Be Brave With Your Life at Tiddly Inks

 Hello Tiddly Peeps,

Have you seen Christy's revamped Gothic Pinups and other images? I had to grab Tank Girl and now I really want to watch the movie again!

Christy's version is somewhat cuter and less crazy than the comic book version, so I am picturing her as an explorer. I've had this paper for a while now but it just hadn't gone with anything yet.

Please come over to our Facebook Group to show off all your Tiddly Makes

When Life Gives You Lemons

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

The weather has certainly taken a turn since I posted last, so while I warm up with a cup of tea I thought it would be a great time to share a couple of new cards.

I have used images and sentiments from the Graciellie Design set 'Tea for the Soul' to make some cards for gifting. Inside they have a pocket to hold tea bags.

The image lends itself very well to a clean and simple card when used with a sentiment.  I matted onto black and coloured the rest of the card blank to match the image.
Inside is the pocket for tea bags.
I also made a layered card with the image printed smaller and using a different sentiment.

The poem inside this one is slightly different.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Pirate Jane's Treasure at Tiddly Inks

Hello Tiddly Peeps,

Spring has finally hit Saskatchewan and I am typing this with the windows wide open and the sun shining in!

For today's inspiration I have used 'Pirate Jane'. She is a fantastic image to spark the imagination and even comes with a couple of maps.

When I think of pirate maps, I always think of them being rather old and worn. To achieve the effect I wanted, I printed mine onto Kraft card then cut around the outline. Next I rubbed some Distress Inks in, sprayed with water and scrunched it up. Once it was dry I took a lighter and set light to all the edges, plus a couple of areas in the middle. That part is always fun!

For my canvas, I started by adding Distress Oxides to the areas that the map wouldn't cover. Then I added some wavy lines of texture paste and used some Frantage to act as seafoam. To finish off, I covered everything with a layer of texture paste, using a brush in wavy motions to complete my sea.
At the bottom right corner of the canvas, I added another layer of texture paste in a 'pile' shape and sprinkled thick gold embossing powder over to give the effect of a pile of gold. Once I added Jane, I also used some gems to complete the treasure.
For Jane herself, I coloured her in what I consider to be traditional pirate colours.
I used some glue and 3D foam pads to add my map and character, then a piece of twine across the back for hanging and my canvas was complete!

Have you ever made a canvas? I would love to see over in our Facebook Group.

Bright Friendship Thank You at Tiddly Inks

 Hello Tiddly Peeps,

I have been going through my stash to see what I haven't used yet and decided to print a small version of an image from the 'Friendship Days' colouring book. The great thing about digital colouring books is that you can print the pages at whatever size you need.

I was in my local dollar store the other day and noticed they have more craft stuff in now, so I grabbed this fun pack of papers.  They match perfectly with the image which I had already coloured, so it was obviously meant to be!

Have you used any images from the colouring books? I'd love to see them in our Facebook Group
