Happy Bee-Day at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Time is flying and we are already into March. Hopefully you have better spring weather than I do!

This week's theme at The Paper Shelter is In The Garden, so you can interpret that how you like.

I have used 'The Queen Bee' for a fun layered birthday card.

I couldn't resist this punny sentiment!

I edged her wings with white marker to make them seem more transparent.

Of course her wings also needed some sparkle!

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Please come and join in our challenge this week and remember, you can use any image but if you use a Paper Shelter image you are eligible for a higher value prize!

You can also share your creations over in our brand new Facebook Group.

Winter Blues at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge at The Paper Shelter and this time the theme is Colours Of Winter.

I have used a page from the 'Charming Vintage Teacups' PDF colouring book and coloured it in shades of blue for fairly simple card. I like the contrast of using such cold colours for something that would usually be giving warm vibes!

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Sparkly Thanks at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

We have resumed our normal schedule at The Paper Shelter and Team B are back this week with a brand new challenge. The theme this time is Make It Sparkle, so get out those bling embellishments and sparkly papers and show us your creativity!

I have used 'Lotus Fairy', alongside lots of glitter paper for a layered thank you card.

I created a simple 'bubble' background for the fairy

It's never easy showing shimmer on a full card photo!

The glitter card shows better under a light.

Beach Yourself at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge at The Paper Shelter and this week we are asking you to Get Outside, so use those outdoor activity images for any kind of craft.

I have gone for a non-traditional summer image 'Witch On A Beach' - Witches aren't just for Halloween, they need a vacation too!

I did something I haven't done before, and merged the pre-coloured background 'paper' with the uncoloured image to create a full scene. I think it turned out really well, so I will be using this technique again.

I used 3D Gloss to give some shine to the sunglasses

A Rockin' Birthday at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Shelter and we have a fun theme for you this week - Music and/or Dance, so break out those instruments of craft and show us what you've got!

Please remember to follow the theme, as we have had several entries lately that aren't quite fitting.

I wanted to use a super cute paper I have, so I chose 'Rock Star' as she matches it perfectly.

I couldn't resist keeping the image fairly duo-tone and mostly sticking to pink and black, with a little purple thrown in. And of course I had to give her a punky hair colour!

To complete the theme I had to use a musical sentiment.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Contemplating Butterflies at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Shelter and this week we are asking you to Embellish It, so break out that bling!

I am showing off a brand new image 'Contemplating Butterflies', which is perfect for this theme and also this time of year. I have seen a few butterflies about lately, but not so many varieties as I used to see back home.

For a change, I chose the papers first then coloured the image to match.

I added some more butterflies and finished them off with some gems. I doubled the die cut with a black layer to help the butterflies stand out more against the busy paper.

And the finishing touch is some paper flowers with fuzzy centres.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Santa's Holiday Fun at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I'm back with some inspiration for our latest challenge at The Paper Shelter and this time we are asking you to share your creations featuring Modes Of Transport.

I decided to use this theme to get started on my Christmas cards, so used 'Xtreme Xmas!'. Santa is having a fun time snowboarding before he needs to get to work delivering gifts.

I used Snowfall Accents and some 3D gloss to add some extra texture and details.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Falling For Steampunk

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

Well the cooler weather is certainly settling in here now, with lots of rain on the forecast. It's a great excuse for crafting though! Krista Smith has an end of summer challenge in her Facebook group right now, so I thought it was about time that I coloured this image that I printed off ages ago ('Steampunk Style' from back in the Saturated Canary days).

Steampunk always make me think of sepia tones, which are very autumnal, so I've kept the whole card with a sepia vibe.

Thank you for taking the time to visit today

Into The Sunset

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

I recently signed up to the Sweet November Stamps newsletter and I am loving that they give their subscribers a monthly freebie. "A Love Like No Other" is now available in the store if you didn't snag it.

For this one I am imagining the pirate taking his mermaid love back into the ocean.

I'm definitely still learning when it comes to colouring my own scenes, but I like to do what I get a feeling for rather than trying for actual realism.

Just Married at Tiddly Inks

Hello Tiddly Peeps,

Welcome to June.! Wedding season is upon us, so I thought I'd make a card to show off one of the older Tiddly images.  'Honeymooners' is great to use on its own or to create a scene with other images or your own background.

I have chosen to make a CAS card with a simple background using my markers.

Have you made any wedding cards recently? There's a few other images that are great for the season. Please join us over in our Facebook Group to show off your latest makes.

When Life Gives You Lemons

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

The weather has certainly taken a turn since I posted last, so while I warm up with a cup of tea I thought it would be a great time to share a couple of new cards.

I have used images and sentiments from the Graciellie Design set 'Tea for the Soul' to make some cards for gifting. Inside they have a pocket to hold tea bags.

The image lends itself very well to a clean and simple card when used with a sentiment.  I matted onto black and coloured the rest of the card blank to match the image.
Inside is the pocket for tea bags.
I also made a layered card with the image printed smaller and using a different sentiment.

The poem inside this one is slightly different.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Bright Poppy Thanks at Tiddly Inks

 Hello Tiddly Peeps,

Have you seen the new HuggaBugs images yet? They're simply adorable. You can grab them in a set over at the Etsy store, including some fabulous extras.

I have combined Poppy Moth with one of the backgrounds to make a bright card to bring us all some sunshine!

I kept to just a few colours to help the image pop.

I love these sentiment dies that have a background part. I didn't want to have the sentiment stark black or red, so this was a great way to keep within the theme.

Are you in our Facebook Group yet? We have lots of people sharing their makes and you can too!
