My Fantasy Pet at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Shelter Blog and this week our optional theme is INSPIRED BY A BOOK OR MOVIE.

I chose "My Fantasy Pet" as I love dragons, and this image makes me think of the movie Mulan. Mushu the dragon is a favourite character of mine.

I used the included paper and merged it with the blank image but accidentally printed without colour, so the background came out as greyscale. Oops. I used pencil to colour it, giving it a more muted tone and I think it actually works well.

The lantern/sentiment are cut/drawn using Cricut and ended up being a little small, so it's hard to read. I chose a quote from Mulan -

"The Flower That Blooms In Adversity Is The Most Rare And Beautiful Of All."  ~

The Emperor

Fairy Garden Thoughts at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

Time is just flying by this year (and it seems every year since Covid, honestly. I'm still not sure where 2023 went!).

It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Shelter and this week our optional theme is ENJOY THE OUTDOORS, so hopefully you've had nice enough weather to do that. We've had lots of rain and wind lately, but it's finally getting nicer.

I have used Page 14 from the Fairytale Ladies colouring book to make an easel card. This fairy is enjoying some relaxation time among the garden flowers.

The easel part sits back further than I would normally do, to account for the sentiment.

I like to go over the wings with white pen to give them a more transparent look.

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Enchanted MerMay Shadowbox at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Shelter, and this week our optional theme is MERMAIDS for MerMay.

I decided to make a shadow box as these are so much quicker for me now I have a Cricut, and I already had a frame made that I hadn't used.

I used Enchanted Ocean and cut the image parts separately so I could arrange them on different layers of my shadowbox.

I used shadowbox layers that I found on Cricut Design Space and added a couple more to complete the scene.

I kept the project to mostly cardstock but added a few embellishments.

The Most Adorable Note Holder at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Time sure is flying by this year! I can't believe we're already at the end of April. Thankfully our snow seems to have finally gone, so I'm hoping we don't get any more (although, several places had a lot of snow last week).

Don't forget that our challenges at The Paper Shelter are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. This week the theme is CUTIES, so I'm sure you won't find that especially difficult!

I have used The Most Adorable Panda for a sticky note holder, as I've had teacher gifts on my mind lately.

I haven't made an upright holder before, but I saw this one on the Cricut app and gave it some tweaks to suit my theme.

My printer really hates the cardstock that I use for markers, and won't print on it unless I add a strip of paper to the end. It's annoying as eff and I didn't want to mess around with that for a print and cut, so I just used regular card and coloured with pencils instead.

Snake Charmed at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's gone back to winter here, as we had lots of snow over the weekend. I'm so done with it, it's not funny.

Which brings me to this week's optional theme at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog - SOMETHING FUNNY. Don't forget, you can now just enter with Anything Goes if you're not feeling the theme.

I have used 'Snake Charmer' for a comic-book-style card.

Clearly this is showing the dangers of not being aware of your surroundings. Poor snake doesn't know what's coming for him 🤣😂

A Spotlight on Mother's Day at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's over halfway through March and we are back to freezing cold and snow. Ugh. I hope it is warmer where you, live!

The optional theme at The Paper Shelter this week is FOR THE LADIES (in honour of upcoming Mother's Day in UK).

I have used The Fairy of the Roses for a layered card.

It's kind of a mash-up of triple-time stamping (except with 4 layers) and the spotlight technique!

Thank you for stopping by today. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

The Power of Chocolate at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Finally we are out of the spell of extreme cold weather here and there has been sunshine, plus temperatures and melting snow. Which is good apart from the icy mornings.

We have changed things up a bit over at The Paper Shelter and our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

This week our theme is FOOD/DRINK so I have made a delicious chocolate gift card, using page 21 from the 'Lovely Bears' colouring book, along with a sheet from the 'Tasty Signs' digital paper pack.

Now I have a Cricut I love being able to design things virtually, although it does take me a while with all the fiddling and creating my own shapes etc. It is definitely my new favourite crafting technique though.

Do you keep your scraps? I can't throw anything away that could be used! I have three bags of cut card, organized by smallest to largest, so it is easy for me to grab what I need.

The card fits four Merci chocolates, or alternatively could fit a single larger treat. I have added a piece of card behind, so there is something to write a note on.

Love Ducks at The Paper Shelter

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Hello from a bitterly cold Canadian Prairies, where we are dealing with extreme cold temperatures for over a week now. I am totally ready for some spring weather!

This week at The Paper Shelter our theme is WITH LOVE. Valentine's Day may have passed, but love is for every day 💕

I have made a layered anniversary card featuring 'Love Ducks'. Aren't they so cute?

I chose the background papers to match each duck, and the sky for a cohesive colour scheme that also fit the love theme.

I love a bit of nonconformity, so I gave my ducks bright colours that really stand out.
