Get Well Wishes at The Paper Shelter

 Hello Crafty Peeps,

It's another week and another new challenge over at The Paper Shelter Blog. This week the optional theme is out first ever sketch!

I have used page 15 from the Flowers colouring book for my image. This is a great digital book to use for many occasions, or just for printing out the pages to colour!

I used vinyl for my background to give it a shiny look, with it being a fairly CAS design.

Our challenges are now ANYTHING GOES with an optional theme. Anyone playing the theme will receive DOUBLE ENTRIES towards the weekly prize!!

You can also share your creations over in our Facebook Group.

Candy Canes & Plaid

I'm keeping it fairly simple with my Christmas crafting as I can get more done that way. This time I have used a sketch from the Power Poppy challenge. I don't use sketches often, but they do help a lot in moments when you're staring at the supplies wishing for inspiration to hit!
I've kept the background colours pretty neutral to let the colours of the candy canes pop ('Candy Cane Classic').  I usually colour these only red and white, but after doing a whole load in sepia for a friend, I wanted to do something more colourful.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Kraft card
  • Plaid papers
  • Gems
  • X-Cut scalloped circle die
  • Ribbon
  • Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • ProMarkers - Holly, Lush Green, Green, Cardinal, Poppy, Red, Cool Grey 1-3, Pine, Forest Green, Leaf Green, Crimson, Berry Red, Lipstick Red, Black, Cool Grey 5
  • Prismacolor pencils - Black, Dark Green & Tuscan Red
  • Posca Paint Pen - White
  • Wink of Stella - Clear

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

  1. Power Poppy - Sketch It Out!
  2. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - #465 ATG
  3. Crafting With An Attitude - #57 ATG
  4. Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned Paper Challenge - Nov ATG

Hot Stuff!

I don't often use sketches for my cards, but sometimes I like to check them out for ideas. Back to using images I've had for a while too.   I did actually print and colour this one ages ago, but it got wrecked somehow and I never got to use it. It's from the Va-Va-Valentine's set that Power Poppy did last year. The sketch is also from Power Poppy for their challenge.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Cardstock
  • Patterned paper
  • Sequins
  • Banner dies
  • X-Cut Oval die
  • Red Stickles
  • Heart dies
  • Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
  • ProMarkers - Cool Grey 1-4, Burnt Orange, Pumpkin, Amber, Gold, Crimson, Poppy, Red, Marine & Yellow

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
  1. Power Poppy - Sketch it Out!
  2. The Paper Shelter - Summer Break ATG
  3. Your Scrapbook Place - July ATG

Sprite Flight

Spring is finally in the air here. Although it is still in the minus temperatures some mornings, it is now getting warm in the afternoon (unfortunately some snow and rain forecast for Easter though).
I won some Aurora Wings images and couldn't resist colouring up 'Butterfly Sprite' and 'Hibiscus Set' up to go together.  I wasn't sure what kind of card I was going to make with them, but luckily I found some inspiration over at the Power Poppy Blog.  They are using a few sketches for inspiration in their latest challenge, so I decided to have a go as I don't normally go by sketches.  I have used Sketch 3 and turned it 90°.
I've used a strip of acetate and a washer for weight to make the Butterfly Sprite 'fly' for a 3D effect.
Products I have used to create my card:
  • Card blank
  • Recollections & K&Co DP
  • X-Cut oval die
  • Acetate
  • Metal washer
  • ProMarkers - Magenta, Carmine, Cerise, Fuchsia, Pink Carnation, Blossom, Mulberry, Gold, Satin, Canary, Pine, Forest, Moss, Lime Green, Burnt Sienna, Caramel, Dusky Pink, Black, Cool Grey 5, Cocoa, Cinnamon, Sandstone, Mustard, Arctic Blue, Powder Blue, Saffron & Oatmeal

I've added a quick video from my phone to show the movement.
