Wild Birthday at Tiddly Inks

February already!? How time flies. We're out of the deep freeze now thankfully, but it's colder again today. I'm warming up with a fun card featuring "King Of The Wild Ones" and "Wryn - Dreadful Dragon". These are great character images for kids' cards and more.

My bestie gave me a huge stack of patterned papers a while ago and this one with jungle leaves was just perfect for my theme. The card is finished off with a fun sentiment, which I have added texture to using Distress Inks.

Candy Canes & Plaid

I'm keeping it fairly simple with my Christmas crafting as I can get more done that way. This time I have used a sketch from the Power Poppy challenge. I don't use sketches often, but they do help a lot in moments when you're staring at the supplies wishing for inspiration to hit!
I've kept the background colours pretty neutral to let the colours of the candy canes pop ('Candy Cane Classic').  I usually colour these only red and white, but after doing a whole load in sepia for a friend, I wanted to do something more colourful.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Kraft card
  • Plaid papers
  • Gems
  • X-Cut scalloped circle die
  • Ribbon
  • Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • ProMarkers - Holly, Lush Green, Green, Cardinal, Poppy, Red, Cool Grey 1-3, Pine, Forest Green, Leaf Green, Crimson, Berry Red, Lipstick Red, Black, Cool Grey 5
  • Prismacolor pencils - Black, Dark Green & Tuscan Red
  • Posca Paint Pen - White
  • Wink of Stella - Clear

Hot Stuff!

I don't often use sketches for my cards, but sometimes I like to check them out for ideas. Back to using images I've had for a while too.   I did actually print and colour this one ages ago, but it got wrecked somehow and I never got to use it. It's from the Va-Va-Valentine's set that Power Poppy did last year. The sketch is also from Power Poppy for their challenge.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Cardstock
  • Patterned paper
  • Sequins
  • Banner dies
  • X-Cut Oval die
  • Red Stickles
  • Heart dies
  • Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
  • ProMarkers - Cool Grey 1-4, Burnt Orange, Pumpkin, Amber, Gold, Crimson, Poppy, Red, Marine & Yellow

  1. Power Poppy - Sketch it Out!
  2. The Paper Shelter - Summer Break ATG

It's week two of our inspiration posts over at Ching-Chou Kuik's Challenge Blog.  Don't forget our theme this month is CHRISTMAS/FIREWORKS and you can enter your fabulous creations here.

This week the team were challenged to Sparkle & Shine and I have used Crimson Moon to create an easel stepper card.  Usually I make a stepper card OR an easel card, so I thought it would be cool to do a combination.   I love these card styles as they give lots of areas to decorate.

Products used:
  • Coloured cardstock
  • G45 'Flutter' designer papers
  • X-Cut nesting dies - Square Parenthesis
  • Swarovski Hotfix crystals & enamel dots
  • Distress Oxide - Wilted Violet

  • Glitter Gel Pens
  • Prismacolor Pencils

It's not so easy to tell in this photo, but there is a lot of sparkle & shine with the glitter gel pens and the Swarovski crystal

Día de Los Muertos

I couldn't resist this too cute freebie from Stamps by Aurora Wings.  I love Halloween and I love making wedding cards, so Day of The Dead style sprites are just perfect for me.  I used to dream about having the full-on white wedding, but as I got older I changed my mind to a themed wedding. I actually had a Chinese-inspired theme, but I think a Day of The Dead theme would be amazing.
The Facebook group has a colouring challenge for this image, but I couldn't stop there... I had to make a card too!
This is my very first bridge card.  I don't know why I haven't made one before as they're so easy.

Products used:
  • Cardstock
  • Tulle
  • Core'dinations Glittersilk card
  • Outline stickers
  • X-Cut Scalloped Heart die
  • Tim Holtz Doily stencil

Wow, halfway through the year, kids have finished school and things are hotting up!
At the Ching-Chou Kuik Challenge Blog we have a brand new challenge with the theme THANK YOU OR SYMPATHY and you can enter here.

I have chosen sympathy as it's not a subject I often create for.  I wanted to do something a little different image-wise so chose 'Two Ladybugs' from the set 'Butterfly & Ladybug'.  I have kept my card very CAS with just a little colour and an embossed background.

Products used:

  • White card blank
  • Daisy Chain embossing folder
  • X-Cut Oval nesting die
  • Little Darlings rubber sentiment stamp
  • Memento Dew Drop in Tuxedo Black
  • ProMarkers - Black, Cool Grey 1-5, Walnut, Cocoa, Cinnamon, Canary, Lemon & Soft Lime

A Batty Hero Birthday

My friend's son turned 6 a little while ago but you know how it is with blogging cards though, more important ones have to be done first!!
His favourite colour is yellow, so I knew 'My Batty Hero' from Tiddly Inks would be perfect.  What kid doesn't love a superhero, right?!

  • Card blank
  • Cardstock
  • Papermania Capsule Collection 'Spots & Stripes Brights' paper
  • Banner die
  • X-Cut nesting circle dies
  • Sequins

Ribbon Love Birthday at Conie Fong

How is it March already?  I've been away from blogging a little while as am super-busy with a new business! (click the link on my sidebar for more info on that 😉)

I'm excited to be back here today with a bonus project for Conie Fong Art & Design.  The brand new image 'Emma Rose' was actually created in February when I was still guest designing, but she's only just been released into the shop.

I've used some fabric inspiration to create a background with my new ribbons. First time I've done this... doesn't it look awesome?!

I've used the spotlight technique for the first time too and I think it turned out pretty good.
Products used:
  • White card black
  • Black & red card
  • Assorted ribbon
  • X-Cut Scalloped Heart nesting die
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Celebration Script word die
  • Papermania Shimmer Dots

Pocket Fairy at Ching-Chou Kuik

We're coming to the end of our ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE challenge at Ching-Chou Kuik's Blog.  There's still time to enter your creations here though.

This week the design team were challenged to Take A Seat.  I have used 'Toadstool Fairy' to create a bookmark card.  I saw these on Pinterest a while ago, so thought it was about time to try one.  I thought a sitting image was perfect to go with a bookmark, as generally you sit while reading.  The sentiment is also great for a bookworm.
The whole card is 2"x6", so you can tell how tiny the image is!!

Products used:
  • Brown, yellow & yellow-orange cardstock
  • Ribbon
  • X-Cut nesting dies - Square Parenthesis
  • Recollections clear stamp
  • Wow! embossing powder - gold
  • Distress Ink - clear embossing
  • Ranger Stickles - Platinum
  • ProMarkers - Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Satin, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Henna, Caramel, Burnt Orange, Pumpkin, Amber, Gold, Sunflower, Cocoa, Olive, Moss, Pear, Pine, Soft Lime, Blue Pearl, Baby Pink, Lavender, True Blue, Sky Blue & Arctic Blue

You're Pretty Grate

I'm a real sucker for Power Poppy images, so when Marcella released a set of 6 Valentine's images for a bargain price I had to grab them! You can get your own Va-Va-Valentines set here.
One of the images sprang out at me and I had a genius idea for how to use it.  Of course I had to squeeze in one more card before the challenge ended, so I've used another template from Page Maps.

Products used:

  • Cardstock
  • Designer paper
  • Cuttlebug acetate
  • Elizabeth Designs banner dies
  • Twine
  • Anita's outline stickers
  • Fiskars Shape Cutter and Circles template
  • X-Cut nesting circle dies
  • Mini Heart confetti (from Mini Wish on Etsy)
  • ProMarkers - Gold, Sunflower, Mustard, Cool Grey 1 & 2, Mulberry, Blue Pearl & Powder Blue

When I saw this image I knew it had to be a shaker. I coloured the hearts to match the confetti and think it works perfectly

Steampunk Slinging & Shaking

How many times have I coloured up an image, then put it in my folder and it's just sat there for who knows how long?!  Sometimes I think it's just waiting for the right inspiration to happen before I actually make a card. This time it was Alyce at Kit & Clowder who gave me some inspiration. She's been making shaker cards to go with the last monthly class images. I haven't made a shaker for ages, so I immediately made a couple.  Not wanting to let shakers sit like I do with images, I thought of the perfect coloured image straight away and got a card made.
The image I have used is the very awesome 'Lahla Steampunk Gunslinger' from Faery Ink. I am quite addicted to Amanda's images and they are often my naughty impulse buys! As she's a Steampunk Faery I had to add a bit of electricity to her wings.

Product list:

  • Kraft card blank
  • Papermania Chronology designer papers
  • X-Cut scalloped circle and circle nesting dies
  • Cuttlebug Embossables acetate
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • Assorted sequins
  • ProMarkers - Burnt Sienna, Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Almond, Cocoa, Walnut, Caramel, Black, Warm Grey 3-5, Cool Grey 1, 2 & 5, Burnt Orange, Spice, Ginger, Blush, Midnight, China Blue, Cobalt, Slate, Amethyst, Lilac, Indigo, French Navy, Powder Blue, Sunflower, Canary, Lemon, Violet, Blue Pearl, Blossom, Mulberry & Fuchsia
  • Sakura Gelly Roll - white
  • 3D foam tape

Please let me know if you have problems viewing the video.
They don't work on all browsers!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
  1. Come and Get It - Fantasy
  2. Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - #66 Anything Goes
  3. The Crafty Addicts - #40 Anything Goes
  4. The Ribbon Girl - Any Image
