Wild Birthday at Tiddly Inks

February already!? How time flies. We're out of the deep freeze now thankfully, but it's colder again today. I'm warming up with a fun card featuring "King Of The Wild Ones" and "Wryn - Dreadful Dragon". These are great character images for kids' cards and more.

My bestie gave me a huge stack of patterned papers a while ago and this one with jungle leaves was just perfect for my theme. The card is finished off with a fun sentiment, which I have added texture to using Distress Inks.

Back To Reality!

Well the kids are back to school today and the sun is shining. It's so quiet here now, but it's nice to have some time to myself!
Do you ever save photos of a card meaning to blog them, but then other projects need to be done first and they kind of get left to the wayside?  That's today's card for me.  It's a bright anniversary card that I made for my parents a while ago using Power Poppy's 'Chinese Lanterns'.  I love this image, it's so fun to colour and is great for many occasions.

I created a bright background using distress inks and finished off with some sequins

Products used:

  • Kraft card blank
  • Kraft & coloured cardstock
  • Corner die
  • Sequins
  • Tim Holtz Script Words sentiment die
  • Distress Inks - Mustard Seed & Spiced Marmalade
  • ProMarkers - Walnut, Saddle Brown, Pine, Forest, Moss, Burnt Orange, Pumpkin & Gold

Candy Canes & Plaid

I'm keeping it fairly simple with my Christmas crafting as I can get more done that way. This time I have used a sketch from the Power Poppy challenge. I don't use sketches often, but they do help a lot in moments when you're staring at the supplies wishing for inspiration to hit!
I've kept the background colours pretty neutral to let the colours of the candy canes pop ('Candy Cane Classic').  I usually colour these only red and white, but after doing a whole load in sepia for a friend, I wanted to do something more colourful.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Kraft card
  • Plaid papers
  • Gems
  • X-Cut scalloped circle die
  • Ribbon
  • Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • ProMarkers - Holly, Lush Green, Green, Cardinal, Poppy, Red, Cool Grey 1-3, Pine, Forest Green, Leaf Green, Crimson, Berry Red, Lipstick Red, Black, Cool Grey 5
  • Prismacolor pencils - Black, Dark Green & Tuscan Red
  • Posca Paint Pen - White
  • Wink of Stella - Clear

A Little Surprise

It's that time of year when I'm kicking my Christmas crafting up a notch.  I have managed to make a few cards over the months, but as usual I leave most of it until this month.
I've made a ton of cards lately, having had a couple of orders for them, so I thought I'd change things up and make some tags.  I had fun doing something a little different from what I normally do and made two tags together....the back one hides a surprise!!  The front tag features 'Wryn's Baubles' from Tiddly Inks.

Products used:
  • Kraft card
  • Black card
  • MME Sleigh Bells Ring designer paper
  • Merry Christmas die
  • Tag Die
  • Eyelet
  • Corner rounder punch
  • Twine
  • Liquid Pearls - Brass & White Opal
  • Stickles -Red
  • Sakura Gelly Roll - Gold & White
  • ProMarkers - Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Satin, Cocoa, Saddle Brown, Raw Sienna, Crimson, Poppy Red, Holly, Lush Green, Gold, Sunflower, Yellow, Black, Cool Grey 5, Burgundy, Cardinal, Ruby, Lemon, Soft Lime, Apple, Meadow Green & Warm Grey 1-4
  • Prismacolor - Dark Green, Dark Brown, Blush Pink & Crimson Red

I added a bit of fun to the image with some polka dots

I continued the polka dot theme on the second tag

Celebrate YOU

Most of my projects feature digital stamps and that's where I usually start.  I always choose an image first, get it coloured and then decide what I'm going to do with it.
For this card I have done the opposite.  I was having a play with a new die.  It's a lacy kind of wave and I knew it would look amazing layered up in ombré blues to represent the sea. Once I had all the layers glued down, I trimmed to 4x6. I used shimmer chalk then a layer of clear texture paste to give it a glossy shine.
Once that was dry I matted onto black and pale blue before gluing it to my card.
I finished off with die-cut sentiments and 'Pearl's Birthday' from Tiddly Inks.

Products used:

  • Coloured cardstock
  • Lacy wave die
  • Ranger Texture Paste - Clear Gloss
  • Papermania Shimmer Chalks
  • Word dies
  • ProMarkers - Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Putty, Antique Pink, Pale Pink, Almond, Raw Sienna, Gold, Sunflower, Yellow, Amber, Sandstone, Carmine, Pastel Pink, Baby Pink, Aubergine, Marine, Turquoise, Green, Mint Green & Pastel Green
  • Prismacolor Pencils - Process Red, Dark Green, Blush Pink & White
  • Gelly Roll - Metallic Gold
  • Wink of Stella - Clear
  • Spectrum Noir Sparkle - Onyx Black

A Super Birthday

Do you ever colour images then don't do anything with them straight away?  Sometimes I'm in the mood for colouring but don't have the mojo to make anything, so I end up with a pile of coloured images. I'm trying to get things used up and although it's been harder with the kids off school, I've made time for some crafting here and there.
Today I am sharing a fun card using 'My Super Boy' from Tiddly Inks. I bought some holographic card in Michaels a while ago when they had special offers and this was just the perfect image to use it with.

Products used:

  • Card blank
  • Holographic card
  • Cardstock
  • Banner die
  • Star eyelets
  • Star confetti
  • 3D foam pads

I coloured the image in traditional Superman colours

The holographic stars really seem to burst in the light

Hot Stuff!

I don't often use sketches for my cards, but sometimes I like to check them out for ideas. Back to using images I've had for a while too.   I did actually print and colour this one ages ago, but it got wrecked somehow and I never got to use it. It's from the Va-Va-Valentine's set that Power Poppy did last year. The sketch is also from Power Poppy for their challenge.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Cardstock
  • Patterned paper
  • Sequins
  • Banner dies
  • X-Cut Oval die
  • Red Stickles
  • Heart dies
  • Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
  • ProMarkers - Cool Grey 1-4, Burnt Orange, Pumpkin, Amber, Gold, Crimson, Poppy, Red, Marine & Yellow

Merry & Bright

I don't usually get Christmas cards started until November - I'm a terrible crafter, LOL. Summer holidays with the kids and all the birthdays I have to make for tend to take precedent there, so this year I am trying to get a few done at least.
I am also trying to use images that I've had for a while and not used before, so for this card I have used 'Rooftop Party' from The Paper Shelter.  I think it was a freebie at the time I got it, but it's still available in the store.
I created a fun background of bright lights to go with the theme of the image and surrounded it with foliage for a sort of wreath.

Products used:
  • Card blank
  • Plain & shiny cardstock
  • Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament sentiment stamp
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Festive Greenery dies
  • Stampendous Red Dragon embossing powder
  • ProMarkers - Crimson, Poppy, Red, Burnt Sienna, Caramel, Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Black, Sandstone, Holly, Lush Green, Henna, Powder Blue, Walnut, Cocoa, Raw Sienna, Cinnamon, Gold, Sunflower, Cool Grey 1-5, Marine, Turquoise, Mint Green, Primrose, Soft Lime & Lemon
  • Blue glitter gel pen

  2. TTCRD - WK9 July ATG
  3. CCC Digi Creations - #105 Christmas In July
  4. Creative Fingers - #168 ATG
